NOTE:
Recently meningococcal vaccine has been approved for usage in infants as young as 9 months. However there are more to protect infants as young as 2 months on the horizon. We are at a critical time in fighting this disease. Meningococcal meningitis is one of the leading causes of infant deaths. Infants account for about 35% of the 2,500 + cases of meningococcal disease in the US each year. As many as 17% of these will result in amputations, blindness, deafness, organ failure, severe brain damage, seizures, learning disabilities and worse death. As part of our infant toddler meningococcal educational program, we have developed this web site http://www.protectinfantsnow.org. Please visit and educate yourself on this deadly disease.
Visit http://www.CDC.gov for more information on all immunizations.
* Please make sure to get your middle and high school students and ALL who are attending college for the first time vaccinated.
* Make sure your infants are vaccinated against deadly pneumococcal and HIB meningitis before you take them to day care.
* Please note ACIP recommendations are not mandates. Mandates/laws are made state by state. Recommendations just give access and choice to all children instead of a privileged few.
